Myopia management centre
India's first in-store clinical Myopia Management Centre, in association with Zeiss, dedicated to early detection and management for children.
Myopia is of growing concern today. By 2050, it is assumed that over half the world's population will be myopic. In partnership with Zeiss, we've created a dedicated centre for early detection and management.
What is Myopia?
"Your child may not even know they have a vision problem, they assume everyone sees the same way."
Myopia, also known as short-sightedness, is a common refractive error where distant objects appear blurry, while close-up objects can be seen more clearly. Myopia usually develops in early childhood and spurts during pre-teens and teens.
It becomes important to watch out for signs of vision problems in your child and ensure yearly eye check-ups are part of their health routine.

Signs to look out for in a child
- Trouble seeing things written on the blackboard
- Complaints from the teacher about notes jotted incorrectly
- Partially closing or squeezing eyelids when trying to focus
- Complaining of headache by end of day
- Frequent rubbing of eyes
- Excessive blinking or watering of the eye
- Desire to sit very close to watch TV
- Wanting to sit in the front row of the classroom
- Decline in academic performance
What are the Causes of Myopia?
Eye experts are unsure of the exact causes, but assume it could be largely due to:
Genetics
Plays a significant role, children with myopic parents are more likely to develop myopia themselves.
Environmental Factors
Increased time with near devices or gadgets and reduced outdoor activity contribute to progression.
What is Progressive Myopia?
During pre-teens and teens, especially between 6 and 16 years of age, there is a lot of growth in the body. The eye tends to grow too, causing the eyeball to elongate, inducing progression of myopia.
If left untreated, it will lead to High Myopia.
Apart from blurred vision, high and uncontrolled myopia can cause serious conditions:
- Retinal tear / detachment
- Myopic macular degeneration
- Glaucoma
- Cataracts
How to treat and manage Myopia?
Several strategies can help manage myopia in children and slow its progression while providing clearer vision. Myopia management is effective and applies to children between 6 and 16 years of age.
Our optometrists will recommend the best option post an eye examination and consultation:
- Myopia control spectacle lenses
- Contact lenses for correction of myopia
- Eye drops to control Myopia
- Combination therapies
