As a testimony to our expertise in dispensing optics we were nominated as the first Essilor Expert in South India and were also awarded by Times Healthcare for Service Excellence in Opticianry and Optometry.
Types Of Contact Lenses
Single Vision
Designed for individuals with myopia (near-sightedness) or hypermetropia (long-sightedness). Serves a single prescription for both distance and near objects, available for spherical and astigmatic powers.
Multifocal
Designed for those who require different powers for distance and near vision. Multifocal lenses have different focal points in a single lens, available only for certain powers.

Materials That We Recommend
The materials used in making contact lenses vary based on brand, modality and duration of use. The basis of all contact lenses is largely Hydrogel and Silicone Hydrogel, though some companies have created superior blends through in-depth research and development. Always purchase and wear contact lenses under the guidance of your Optometrist.

Hydrogel
Hydrogel lenses are made from gel-like, water-containing plastics called hydrogels. These soft contact lenses are very thin and pliable, conforming to the surface of the eye. Introduced in the early 1970s, hydrogel lenses made contact lenses much more popular, thanks to the improved comfort and ease of use.
Even though these lenses predate Silicone Hydrogel and are less superior in terms of oxygen transmission, companies today are continuously adding features to improve this material. Manufactured by Johnson & Johnson, Alcon, Cooper Vision and Bausch & Lomb.
Silicone Hydrogel
Silicone Hydrogel lenses are superior to Hydrogel as they allow up to five times more oxygen to pass through the lens to the cornea, so wearers can use them for longer hours. Silicone is a flexible, plastic-like material containing silicon, carbon, oxygen and other chemicals.
Today the basis of most widely used contact lenses is silicone hydrogel material. These lenses offer the best combination of comfort and breathability. Manufactured by Johnson & Johnson, Alcon, Cooper Vision and Bausch & Lomb.
Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP)
Gas permeable lenses are rigid lenses made of durable plastics that allow oxygen to pass through. Also called GP lenses or oxygen permeable lenses, they are silicone-based but unlike soft lenses, they remain firm when worn and take time to adjust to.
Clarity of vision and maintenance with RGP lenses are superior to their soft counterparts, though comfort is not as immediate. They are also used to treat patients with high astigmatism and keratoconus. Should only be used when recommended by an Optometrist. Book an appointment →
Scleral Lenses
Scleral contact lenses are large, gas-permeable lenses specially designed to cover a significant portion of the eye's surface, including the sclera (the white part) and part of the cornea. Unlike traditional lenses, they don't rest directly on the cornea; instead they vault over it, creating a small reservoir of sterile saline solution.
Scleral lenses are significantly larger than standard contact lenses (14 to 24mm in diameter) and require specialised fitting by an experienced eye care professional.
